Point guard Reese Alston is one of the guys Kentucky targeted, and has stayed in contact with. He visited Lexington, and the Wildcats made it into his final seven. However, it now appears Kentucky is lagging behind other schools.

Alston is a 6'2", 175 lb point guard out of Texas, and the son for former NBA guard Rafer Alston. He is currently rated five stars by 247Sports and ranks as their No. 9 overall player.

According to On3's Joe Tipton, Alston is close to a decision, and is likely down to just two schools. It appears he's choosing between the LSU Tigers and Wildcats rival, Louisville. Either one would be a tough outcome for Kentucky, who would face him next year.

As for Pope, many fans will be disappointed in another miss if Alston does commit elsewhere, especially to Louisville. However, Kentucky is still in on a number of other options, and nothing is official with Alston yet. We will update things as they develop.
