Gareth Taylor’s Liverpool side currently sit seventh in the WSL table, having lost three of their last five league matches. Natalia Ramos opened the scoring for the Reds in last week’s clash against Aston Villa, but a second-half goal from Chasity Grant, as well as a late own goal from Grace Fisk, meant Liverpool trailed 2-1 at full-time.

Meanwhile, London City Lionesses have had a solid start to their second WSL campaign, sitting third in the table after winning four of their last five matches in the league, netting 13 goals in that time. Eder Maestre’s side won 2-1 against Everton last time out in the league, with goals from Delphine Cascarino and Freya Godfrey allowing them to claim their fourth consecutive league victory.

Alexia Putellas’ move to the capital has proven to be a valuable one, with the Spaniard netting three times and assisting once in six league fixtures. The 32-year-old moved to South-East London in the summer in a shock move, following a successful 14 seasons with Barcelona. The two-time women’s Ballon D’Or winner scored 232 goals in her time at the club, making her the all-time female goalscorer in Barcelona’s history.

After scoring twice and assisting twice in the league, Vivian Endemann has proven to be a key player for Liverpool this season. The German forward joined the club over the summer, moving to Merseyside following three seasons with VfL Wolfsburg, where she scored 31 goals.

Endmann returned from injury during the second half of their clash against Villa last weekend, though the Reds will remain without Ceri Holland and Sam Kerr on Sunday, Taylor confirmed.

Isa Kardinaal sustained a left ankle ligament injury in City’s Subway Players Cup match against West Ham on Wednesday evening, ruling her out of Sunday’s fixture.

These two sides last met back in January, which was Maestre’s first WSL game in charge of the Lionesses; it finished in a 0-0 draw. Historically, they have met seven times; both have won the clash twice, with three of the meetings ending in a draw.

Kick-off is scheduled for 2pm BST on Sunday, October 25th and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Mix.
