The Michigan football team is hoping to pull off a big upset on Saturday over Indiana. Former Michigan football star Charles Woodson is giving his endorsement to his Wolverines.

“We have got a great chance to silence all of the doubters in this league,” Woodson said Saturday on FOX.

Michigan is 4-2 on the season, under first-year head coach Kyle Whittingham. The Wolverines are coming off a big win over Penn State.

Michigan is a historic football program, and Woodson is one of the reasons why. Playing for the Wolverines, Woodson won the Heisman Trophy in 1997 while playing defensive back.

Woodson would then go on to a long NFL career, after leaving the Wolverines.

Michigan and Indiana have a lot to play for Saturday

Indiana meanwhile enters the Michigan game having lost its last game to Ohio State. The Hoosiers have never lost back-to-back games under head coach Curt Cignetti.

Michigan is making a change at quarterback heading into Saturday’s clash. The Wolverines have Tommy Carr starting at quarterback on Saturday, over Bryce Underwood. Carr had a strong game helping to lead Michigan to a win in its last game over Penn State.

Analysts including Kirk Herbstreit think that this change could charge up Michigan.

“I don’t care what the preconceived (notion was), what we’re doing in spring ball. Now it’s reality,” Herbstreit said on the show Nonstop. “If I think Tommy Carr can give me a better chance, I’m looking at it through the eyes and the lens of a coach trying to win games. I don’t know if these guys are, but me personally, that’s how I’m looking at it.”

The Wolverines have had an up-and-down season. Michigan defeated Oklahoma this season, but also lost back-to-back games to Minnesota and Iowa. The Wolverines started the season nearly losing to Western Michigan, in a controversial ending.

Michigan and Indiana are playing at time of writing. Indiana enters the game with a 6-1 record.
