Daniel Dye's race recap in the 2026 Chase race at Talladega

· Yahoo Sports

Daniel Dye experienced a disappointing afternoon in Saturday's The Progress Group 250 at Talladega Superspeedway, finishing 33rd after starting 33rd. The driver of the No. 32 Chevrolet completed all 94 laps but struggled to gain track position against the competitive field.

Dye entered the event hoping to capitalize on the unpredictable drafting conditions and improve his position from the rear of the lineup. The opening stages featured several changes for the lead as JR Motorsports established control of the dominant drafting lanes.

Dye initially remained deeper in the field while the championship contenders battled for valuable stage points. Although the race provided opportunities to gain positions through pit strategy and changing drafting formations, Dye was unable to establish himself near the front.

The first significant accident occurred on Lap 57 when contact involving Harrison Burton and Taylor Gray triggered a multicar incident. Dye avoided elimination and continued racing as the field worked through the final stage. However, he could not improve upon his qualifying position during the closing laps. Dye ultimately finished 33rd, completing all 94 laps and remaining on the lead lap.

Although the result fell short of his expectations, the appearance provided additional experience competing against established O'Reilly Auto Parts Series drivers.
