Athan Kaliakmanis became the third quarterback in program history to be drafted after finishing their career as a Scarlet Knight, getting taken 223rd overall by the Washington Commanders in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft on Saturday.
Rutgers has tied a program record for consecutive years with at least one player drafted (1981-85), and it has a good chance of breaking it next spring if star wide receiver KJ Duff enters the draft pool following this fall.
This year, Kaliakmanis was the lone Rutgers player to get drafted, but he will not be the only one to sign with an NFL team on Saturday.
Multiple players will get inked as undrafted free agents in the hours following the event, and we will track all the signings here.
Here is where former Rutgers players have landed so far:
— QB Athan Kaliakmanis (Drafted 223rd overall):Washington Commanders.
— TE Kenny Fletcher: Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
— WR DT Sheffield:New York Jets.
— CB Cam Miller:Carolina Panthers.
— EDGE Eric O’Neill: Detroit Lions.
