Barcelona will not increase their offer for Julian Alvarez even after Real Madrid’s failed €150m bid

Barcelona have no intention of increasing their €100 million offer for Julian Alvarez despite Atletico Madrid’s decision to reject a significantly higher proposal from Real Madrid.

According to AS, the Catalan giants remain committed to their original valuation of the Argentine striker and are not prepared to enter a bidding war for his signature.

The latest development comes after Real Madrid attempted to test Atlético’s resolve with a €150 million offer.

The proposal was swiftly dismissed by the Madrid club, who later responded publicly and mockingly to their city rivals, showing their determination to keep hold of one of their most important players.

Despite the noise generated by Real Madrid’s failed approach, Barcelona’s position has not changed.

Although Barcelona continue to view Alvarez as one of their preferred attacking targets, club officials are reportedly drawing a clear line when it comes to the financial side of the operation.

It is in this regard that the Blaugrana will not raise their existing €100 million proposal, even after seeing Atletico reject an offer worth €50 million more from Real Madrid.

The club’s leadership understands that negotiations with Atletico Madrid were always going to be difficult.

The relationship between the two clubs, combined with Alvarez’s importance to Diego Simeone’s side, means any agreement would be complicated from the outset.

However, Barcelona are determined not to abandon their transfer strategy.

Rather than chasing the deal at any cost, they are prepared to remain patient and assess how the situation develops over the coming weeks.

Barcelona have an alternative planned

Interestingly, as reported before, those at Camp Nou are also believed to have paid little attention to Real Madrid’s intervention, with some viewing the move as an attempt to complicate the operation rather than a genuine threat to their own plans.

One reason Barcelona are maintaining their calm is because they are not entirely dependent on signing Alvarez this summer.

The aforementioned outlet reports that Joao Pedro remains a serious alternative should negotiations with Atletico Madrid ultimately fail.

The Brazil forward is understood to have already given the green light to a move to Barcelona, offering the club another option in the market if their primary target proves unattainable.
