Bob Myers was a big reason why the Golden State Warriors have been one of the best teams in the NBA over the past decade or so. Myers, who decided to go in a different direction, now oversees a ton for the Philadelphia 76ers. His decision to go to Philadelphia didn't come as much of a surprise, but it certainly has an impact on the Warriors.
Myers recently spoke about the LeBron James situation, and, as everyone would imagine, he gave his best recruitment pitch to land in Philadelphia.
However, while this is a higher-up speaking, there's also reason to believe that Golden State could miss out on the chance to land James because of Myers' impact in the NBA.
“If he was (on the podcast), I’d say, ‘I honestly believe this is your best chance to win,'” Myers, the president of the 76ers, said, per The Athletic. “You have to decide all the other things that are equally important. … What I would say is if it’s about winning, ‘Let’s talk about that team because you can win in Philadelphia.’”
As of right now, there's no feel regarding what James is going to do.
Reports have indicated that he's interested in returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers, while others have suggested that he could want to play for Golden State because of his relationship with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, who's expected to re-sign in the coming days to weeks.
Philadelphia would be an interesting landing spot given its talent, but if James wants to stay on the West Coast, the Warriors would make a lot more sense.
