Dennis Gardeck's tenure with the Jaguars
The Jaguars originally signed Gardeck to a one-year deal in June of 2025. He then signed a two-year, $6.5 million deal earlier this offseason to remain with the team.
Recapping Dennis Gardeck's 2025 season
Gardeck brings a unique skill set to the Jaguars' defense. When in their base 4-3 alignment, he is the SAM linebacker, although the majority of his snaps came at the line of scrimmage as a pass rusher.
Gardeck finished the season with 25 pressures, three sacks, and 35 total tackles. He was also a core special teams contributor, playing 283 snaps across five of the six different phases.
Looking ahead to 2026 for Dennis Gardeck
Gardeck will continue to bring that versatile presence to the defense, while also being a key member of the special teams unit. That said, it will be interesting to see if his role defensively evolves under Year 2 with Anthony Campanile.
No longer is the new scheme being implemented, but rather what's been established can be built upon, and when a defender has Gardeck's versatility, that could lead to greater ways in which he's utilized.
I'm also curious to see what his workload looks like as a pass rusher. Behind Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker, there are unknowns, given the inexperience, but do the Jaguars opt to get those younger players more opportunities, or lean more heavily on Gardeck and his track record as a pass rusher?
