Shortstop Corey Seager completed another live batting practice session on Sunday at Globe Life Field, marking another encouraging milestone in his recovery from lower back inflammation.
The session was Seager's second round of live batting practice during his recovery. Another workout is scheduled before Texas concludes its series against the Seattle Mariners, after which the organization is expected to determine whether he is ready to begin a minor league rehab assignment.
Rehab assignment is becoming more likelyBecause Seager has missed nearly a month of game action, the Rangers are carefully evaluating the best path toward his return.
While the four-time All-Star has often returned directly from previous injuries without playing in the minor leagues, this absence may warrant a different approach.
The extended layoff has made it more difficult to replicate the timing and game situations that come with facing live competition, making a rehab assignment a realistic option before he rejoins the major-league roster.
The club plans to assess how Seager responds physically following Monday's workout before making a final decision on his next step.

Health has been a recurring obstacle for Seager throughout the season.
The 32-year-old has appeared in just 51 games after landing on the 15-day Injured List on July 1 because of lower back inflammation. The same issue also sidelined him earlier in the year, while a separate stint on the Injured List followed a concussion.
Those interruptions have prevented Seager from finding much consistency at the plate. Through his limited action this season, he owns a .182 batting average with a .292 on-base percentage and a .374 slugging percentage.
A healthy return from Seager would provide a significant boost for a lineup that has spent much of the year without several key contributors.
Texas awaits reinforcementsSeager is one of multiple impact players the Rangers hope to welcome back as they navigate a competitive division race.
Third baseman Josh Jung also remains on the Injured List, leaving Texas without another important piece of its everyday lineup. Although outfielder Wyatt Langford has provided an offensive spark since returning from his own injury, the Rangers have rarely had their preferred roster available for an extended period in 2026.
Even with those setbacks, Texas remains atop the American League West with a 53-52 record, holding a narrow lead over both the Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros as the Aug. 3 Trade Deadline approaches.
The potential return of Seager could arrive at an ideal time, giving the Rangers another middle-of-the-order bat as they attempt to hold onto first place and shape their deadline strategy for the stretch run.
