Kaizer Chiefs have received a huge boost ahead of the 2026-27 CAF Confederation Cup draw which is scheduled for TODAY, 6 August in Cairo.

Amakhosi will be making their second successive appearance in the competition after finishing third on the log last season.
Last season’s appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup came as a result of Chiefs winning the 2025 Nedbank Cup.

KAIZER CHIEFS GET CAF CONFEDERATION CUP BYE
Now, after reports emerged that Chiefs will enter this season’s CAF Confederation Cup draw from the first preliminary round, it appears there is a new twist to the whole story.
New developments are that the Soweto giants will get a bye and enter the competition from the second preliminary round.
This after Congo Brazaville failed to have an entrant for this year after CAF rejected their request to have AS Otoho entered.
Congo Brazaville have not had any domestic competition played for a year, and therefore, that disqualified them as per the CAF regulations.
Chiefs will now only have two games to qualify for the group stage – home and away fixtures with teams that played and won in the first preliminary round.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR AMAKHOSI?
The latest developments means Chiefs don’t have to worry about the possibility of their league fixture against Siwelele FC being postponed.
Fernando da Cruz’s men are scheduled to take on Lehlohonolo Seema’s charges on 5 September; the same weekend CAF has scheduled the first preliminary round fixtures.
