Boot Camp: Matthew Brady looks to lead Central Catholic on deep playoff run

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) -- Central Catholic could be one of the most exciting teams in our area this season. The Saints went 10-1 last year and were led by both a dominant offense and defense. They scored nearly 45 points per game, while only allowing 16 per game.
Central Catholic is led by Michigan State commit Matthew Brady, who stars as a dual threat quarterback and a linebacker. Bringing back the quarterback of both sides of the ball is something that head coach Kevin Braucht says has been huge all summer as the Saints look to make a deep playoff run.

"Any time you return any player specifically at the quarterback spot, you know, I think it really helps specifically through summer and into camp and, you know, just his ability to lead our offense and direct traffic and get us in the right play and go from there. And he's going to be big on both sides," said Braucht. "There's no doubt about that. You know, people are going to know where he's at every week. You know, I think for us, it's just about put him in good spots, make sure that we can put him in a spot to succeed and he's going to do the rest."
"We've installed everything pretty basic. You know, we'll get into more stuff, obviously, as the season goes on," said Brady. "But I think with me returning coach has more trust in me to direct the offense so we can go off the playbook a little bit."
The Saints open up the season at home against Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
