Over their last 39 games, the Red Sox have won 32 times, bringing them all of the way from the bottom of the AL East and the AL standings, to right behind the New York Yankees.
Amid this incredible turnaround for the Red Sox, interim manager Chad Tracy got some expected news from USA Today's Bob Nightengale. Tracy, amid this unbelievable turnaround, has become the favorite for the AL manager of the year award.

"Chicago White Sox manager Will Venable looked like a lock virtually all season for the American League manager of the year award," Nightengale writes. "Then, along came the Red Sox's historic surge, and now Boston's interim manager Chad Tracy is the favorite heading into the final six weeks."
It should come as little surprise to Red Sox fans that Tracy has become the favorite for this end-of-season award for managers.
While the Chicago White Sox coming out of nowhere to be a contender is impressive, what the Red Sox have done under Tracy with this hard-to-believe stretch is more than enough to justify the award over Venable.
In 89 games as manager of the Red Sox since taking over for Alex Cora, who was fired mid-season, the Red Sox have a .607 winning percentage with a 54-35 record.

That .607 winning percentage is the same as what the Tampa Bay Rays, the current AL East leader and top team in the entire American League, has as their winning percentage.
Put another way, Tracy, as the Red Sox manager, has managed this team like the best club in the AL. In all of MLB, only the Milwaukee Brewers, with a .627 winning percentage, have a higher percentage than Tracy has this season.
The 41-year-old is a former minor league player who never got into the Major Leagues after being drafted in the third round of the 2006 MLB Draft.
But, he might have found a career as the new Red Sox manager, as this incredible stretch of games since late June, and his overall body of work is award-worthy, and Nightengale shares that Tracy is now the favorite for the AL manager of the year award.
