Broncos' preseason win streak ends with 33-13 loss to Packers

The Denver Broncos got off to a great start in their preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on Friday night as Bo Nix took the starting offense down the field to match the touchdown the Packers opened the game with.

Nix threw a 21-yard strike to RJ Harvey to tie the game 7-7. The drive also included a 35-yard pass from Nix to the team's newest and most exciting offensive piece, Jaylen Waddle. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there.

It was quite the contrast from last Friday night, when the Broncos were dominant on the road against the Atlanta Falcons. In this game, the team committed 10 penalties and Jarrett Stidham followed up his strong performance last week with a lackluster performance on Friday night.

Stidham completed 9 of 15 passes for 82 yards with an interception. Sam Ehlinger was given most of the fourth quarter, but was unable to close the gap in the competition for the No. 2 job as he threw the ball just two times, completing both passes for 10 yards.

The Broncos went up 10-7 early on, but the Packers piled it on after that, outscoring Denver 26-3 to hand them their first preseason loss since August 2023. The Broncos had won eight preseason games in a row.

Trey Smack kicked four field goals for the Packers and Will Sheppard, who played for the Colorado Buffaloes in college, caught six passes for 47 yards and a touchdown.

The Broncos will play their final preseason game next Friday night against the Minnesota Vikings. That game will take place at Empower Field, with kickoff set for 7:00 pm MT.
