The Stags have won more than 100 matches over the previous two seasons and they look well on their way to adding to it this season.
Boyne City recently got to test themselves against the best of the conference and fell in a three-set match.
For new head coach Shannon Flippin, the night wasn’t all lost, as he got to see standouts step up to the challenge.
“We battled and extended plays, but Kingsley's defense and outside hitters gave us trouble all night long,” Flippin said. “Despite playing very competitive volleyball and managing nine kills per set.”
Boyne City’s Addy Burns stood out both offensively and defensively for the Ramblers, totaling 10 kills and 24 digs, to go with a pair of aces on the night.
Lily Payton helped set Burns up with 24 assists total, Elle Wilson came through with 21 digs and two aces and Natalie Mastin and Eeva Rintala contributed to that strong night of hitting, recording six and five kills, respectively.
The Ramblers dropped the match in sets of 15-25, 20-25 and 16-25.

HARBOR SPRINGS
Rams fall to Cheboygan in four sets: 25-17, 19-25, 9-25, 13-25
Riley Kring — Though the night came with a loss, Kring became a reason for the Rams to celebrate, as she secured her 500th assist on the court. She recorded 24 assists against Cheboygan, then added four kills and three aces.
Makenna Brey — Brey kept up her strong hitting of late, finishing with eight kills against Cheboygan.
Avery Sears — Sears set up a strong block against the Chiefs, finishing with four blocks total on the night.
HARBOR LIGHT
Swordsmen fall to Burt Lake NMCA in three: 19-25, 21-25, 19-25; fall to Boyne Falls: 19-25, 16-25.
Cara Paulus — Paulus stood out for Harbor Light in a tri match at home against NMCA and Boyne Falls, which counted as non-conference. She finished with 29 kills, eight digs and a block.
Alayna Swadling — The sophomore setter finished the home tri with 41 assists.
Lilly Cope — Cope had a strong night defensively against NMCA and Boyne Falls, finishing with 28 digs.
Marayah Burns, Emily Good — Both Burns and Good, each an outside hitter, recorded seven kills during the home tri match.
MACKINAW CITY
Comets fall to JoBurg: 9-25, 12-25; fall to Rogers City: 16-25, 25-19, 14-25.
Ella Kruczynski — Kruczynski did a little of everything in a pair of tough matches against J-L and Rogers City, finishing with 12 digs, five assists, two aces and a kill.
Alaia Mendez — Mendez led on the night with five kills and two blocks at the net, then added 12 digs and an ace.
Emily Kruczynski — Emily Kruczynski’s night came with 11 digs, four kills and an ace.
Disaya Hernandez — Hernandez finished the tri match with 12 digs and an ace.

CHARLEVOIX
Rayders earn a 6-0 win over Grayling to move to 4-1 on the season.
Patrick McClure — The Rayder keeper picked up his first shutout of the season in a 6-0 win over Grayling this week, making a number of strong saves throughout the night.
Owen Boss — Boss recorded a four-goal night against Grayling, an impressive night for the freshman Rayder.
Collin Mullaney — Mullaney set up numerous goals against the Vikings, recording three assists.
Navi — The three-goal game by Boss came supported by a pair from Navi against the Vikings.
CROSS COUNTRY
PETOSKEY
Northmen compete in Oiler Invite, bring in personal bests.
Jack Frentz — Frentz came through with a new personal best and beat the competition by 25 seconds in Mount Pleasant, recording a first place 16:17.37 in the Gold Race.
Carson Brey — Brey put together a new personal best in the Oiler Invite, running a fourth place 16:52.99.
Aya Pateman — Pateman had a season-best run in Mount Pleasant in an 11th place 22:11.58, leading for Petoskey.
