Off-Day Open Thread

The Jays have the day off, and I’m going to take most of the day off too. We are going to a friend’s daughter’s wedding today. This is our second wedding this summer, after a few years without weddings to go to. You reach an age where either your friends are married, or they aren’t going to get married.

Unfortunately, funerals or ‘celebrations of life’ have been filling that space. I’ve grown to like the ones where people do the celebration of life before death so they can hear all the nice things said about them. I’ve been at several funerals where I wished the person could have been there to hear all the nice things said.
Of course, you have to know it is coming to celebrate before you die. And I think I’d rather not know it is coming.
I’ve also come to the feeling that children of the deceased shouldn’t have to speak at the funeral. They should be allowed to grieve quietly.

Most SB Nation staff have had access to it for a few weeks now, other than those of us in Canada. I’ve read good things about it, especially for GameThreads, but I just downloaded it this morning, so I have no firsthand experience.

With a Guardians’ loss last night, the Jays are still just one game out of a Wild Card spot. So they still don’t have to run the table, but wins would help. I tend to think that to be an MLB playoff team, you need a winning record. This year? Maybe not.
We have 15 games left. Winning 9 of 15 should be enough to make it. But if they want to do better than that, I’d be ok with it.
