Emily: He was the one player I said I didn't want to lose during the transfer window, so I'm delighted he is staying. He is great defensively as well as going forward. He has such a bright future ahead of him.
Kevin: Yes, I am relieved. He is a class player and we need his experience now more than ever, especially with the younger players we now have at the club. I feel he is a future club captain.
David: Lewis Hall should be made vice captain now. That way, he will be ready to take over from big Dan Burn next season.
Matthew: He is exactly the type of player 'Newcastle 2.0' should be built around. This contract also means more money if he is sold, so it is a win-win.
Richard: The best news I've had in ages! The interest from Manchester United was disconcerting so I'm delighted we've got him on a long, solid contract now. I get that we need to be good sellers, but we also need to be a very good squad. Plus, there are some players you just don't want to sell.
