Pete Alonso brings beers, souvenirs to Mets fans who caught his 300th homerun ball

Baltimore Orioles first baseman Pete Alonso hit his 300th career homerun off of his former team, the New York Mets, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
The homerun came at a pivotal point in the game, in the ninth inning as the Orioles trailed the Mets. It tied the game.

Alonso took a curtain call at Citi Field after the homerun. That was not the end of the celebration. The Mets fans who caught the Alonso homerun ball met with him after the game.

Alonso autographed his Mets jersey
It had to be surreal for everyone involved as Alonso hit 264 of his 300 homeruns as a member of the Mets.
Yet there was no awkwardness as Alonso appeared outside the visitor’s locker room to meet the three men. He thanked them profusely and offered many gifts.
In addition to autographing balls and bats for them, Alonso signed his Mets jersey that one was wearing.
He offered bats as well. At one point, he came out of the locker room with three cans of Miller Lite for the men.

Alonso downplayed the milestone homerun to Orioles media
He is so focused on trying to keep the Orioles, who are hanging on by a thread, in the MLB AL wildcard race. Alonso told Orioles’ media personality Rob Long that winning the game (in 11 innings by the score of 7-4) was most important.
On Roberto Clemente night where the players including Orioles Roberto Clemente Award nominee Alonso wore Clemente’s number 21, Alonso gave props to everyone involved with the game which was admittedly an odd one. Pitcher Shane Baz unexpectedly left in the fifth inning after being hit by a line drive. Coby Mayo hit an inside the park homerun in the 11th inning to seal the win.
The Orioles are behind the Tigers and Blue Jays competing for the final wild card spot with an upcoming three game series with the Blue Jays later this week.
