James Monroe defeats Narrows 35-14 at Lindside

LINDSIDE — The James Monroe football team won the annual Battle of Peters Mountain, defeating visiting Narrows 35 -14 at James Monroe High School on Friday night.

Jayden Miller led the Mavericks passing attack, completing 12 of 15 attempts for 120 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown toss to Ben Comer and a 24-yard scoring strike to Bryce Gardinier.
Miller gave up two interceptions, one to Elijah Knoetze and another to La’Velle Cunningham.
Gardinier had four catches for 49 yards and Comer had four receptions for 43 yards.
Easton Dowdy had 12 carries for 57 yards including a 5 yard touchdown run to pace the Mav’s rushing attack. Bryce Parker had 11 carries for 44 yards including a 5-yard touchdown run and Ben Comer had two carries for 27 yards, including a 20-yard TD run.
Knoetze led the Green Wave with 158 yards and 19 carries, including touchdown runs of 7 and 58 yards. He came out of the game injured in the second half.
James Monroe (3-2) travels to Coal City to play Independence next week. Narrows (2-3) takes an open date and will travel to Parry McCluer on Oct. 9.
