NFC West standings: San Francisco 49ers on top, Arizona Cardinals in last place

The NFC West had a rough go in Week 3. Only one team won, and that is the team sitting atop the division.

The San Francisco 49ers are 3-0 and sit in first place in the division after another impressive offensive performance.

The standings look like this after three games:

  1. San Francisco 49ers, 3-0 (2-0 division)
  2. Seattle Seahawks, 2-1 (1-0 division)
  3. LA Rams, 1-2 (0-1 division)
  4. Arizona Cardinals, 1-2 (0-2 division)

What happened in Week 3?

Week 3 in the NFC West

The 49ers held off the Cardinals 36-30 in Santa Clara. They built a 14-0 lead and scored 36 points with only a little more than 21 minutes of possessing the ball. QB Brock Purdy threw four touchdown passes a week after earning NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

The Cardinals battled and controlled the ball on offense, scoring 30 points for the first time since 2024, but they averaged only 5.3 yards per pass play.

The Seahawks, wih Sam Darnold returning to the lineup, were upset by the Washington Commanders on the road 33-31. Darnold threw four touchdown passes but was picked off twice, and Commanders QB Marcus Mariota, starting in place of the injured Jayden Daniels, had three touchdown passes.

The Rams blew a 16-0 lead to the Denver Broncos on Sunday night in Denver. Matthew Stafford was picked off twice and sacked four times. Bo Nix's one-yard touchdown run with 47 seconds left in the game gave the Broncos a 30-26 win.

Coming up in Week 4

  • The Cardinals will face the New York Giants on the road on Sunday. The Giants are down starting quarterback Jaxson Dart and top pass rusher Brian Burns.
  • The Rams face the 2-1 Philadelphia Eagles on the road on Sunday.
  • The Seahawks host the 0-3 LA Chargers.
  • The 49ers host the Broncos.
