Red Sox’s Roman Anthony Seemingly Exits Due To Injury Vs. Yankees

During Game 1 of the American League Wild Card Series, Roman Anthony was pinch-hit for by Andruw Monasterio in the top of the sixth inning.

It's unlikely that Chad Tracy would pinch-hit for Anthony in a two-run game, especially with a right-handed batter against Cam Schlittler. It's possible Anthony is dealing with some kind of injury, but nothing is confirmed.
Anthony missed nearly four months with a torn ligament in his ring finger. The injury kept him out longer than expected, but he had been hitting well since his return. On Sunday, in the regular season finale, he took a swing and was seen flexing his right hand, the same hand he injured.

According to MLB.com's Ian Browne, Anthony was unable to check his swing twice on Tuesday. He struck out twice against Schlittler before being replaced by Monasterio.
Losing Anthony would be a huge blow for the Red Sox in the series against the Yankees. However, if the Red Sox do advance, not having him available against the Tampa Bay Rays would be devastating. Anthony missed last year's postseason with an injury as well.
The Red Sox have not confirmed whether Anthony is injured. Tracy will surely answer questions about the decision to pinch-hit for Anthony after the game.
