Dolphins claim RB who ran well against them in the preseason

The Miami Dolphins lost De'Von Achane for the season to a torn ACL in Week 3, and while they have Ollie Gordon II and Jaylen Wright on the active roster, they've been looking for more depth.

That's why Miami claimed running back Kaytron Allen off waivers on Friday.

Allen, who attended IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, played at Penn State from 2022-25. He ran for 4,180 yards and 39 touchdowns on 5.4 yards per carry for the Nittany Lions while earning All-Big Ten honors once and All-American honors once.

The Washington Commanders took him in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and he has rushed for 41 yards on 3.4 yards per attempt in his rookie year. In preseason, he ran for 85 yards and a touchdown against the Dolphins, and that performance is probably fresh in general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan's mind.

Miami needs to clear a spot before Allen is officially on the roster.
