Player of the game
TROY PETERS, MASON: Another week, another game where the junior made a big all around impact for the Bulldogs. The junior had touchdowns in three different ways while helping Mason claim the outright league title. He had 10 rushes for 180 yards and two touchdowns, threw for 35 yards and a touchdown and also had a receiving score for the Bulldogs. Peters added an interception on defense.
Key moment
Williamston was driving late in the second quarter while trailing 28-7 and had a chance to tighten the game before receiving the kickoff to open the second half. That scoring chance was ended by Peters interception in the end zone with around 30 seconds left in the second quarter. Mason turned that into points when Luke Goss threw a TD pass to Frankie Trigo with 1.7 seconds left to give the Bulldogs a 35-7.
What it means
Mason (7-0, 5-0) wraps up the outright CAAC Red title and ends the regular season unbeaten against Greater Lansing teams. The league championship was the seventh in eight seasons for the Bulldogs, who wrap up the regular season with home games against Hastings and Harper Woods. Williamston (4-3, 3-2) had its two-game winning streak halted and missed an opportunity to claim a share of the CAAC Red title.
Quotable
"Last year was a down year but (we got) back to what we do. We worked super hard this summer and in the season and we came out with the title so that's great." — Mason senior Luke Goss on the Bulldogs winning the outright league title after having title streak snapped in 2025.
