Higgins' arm and shoulder were observed on the sideline by team medical personnel after taking a huge hit from Ravens defensive back Kyle Hamilton after a 10-yard catch on third down during the Bengals' second drive early in the second half.

Higgins remained on the Bengals' bench after observation.

Before the bye week, Higgins was dealing with an adductor injury he suffered in a Week 4 loss to Jacksonville.

Against the Jaguars, Higgins got up slowly after a 19-yard catch near the sideline from quarterback Joe Burrow. Higgins got up, but then took a knee and required attention from team medical personnel.

Higgins returned to the game later in the drive, and made a catch on his first play back in the game. He was not on the field for the Bengals' final drive of the game.

Higgins had a game-high 10 catches for 140 receiving yards before the injury. He added a 17-yard catch, giving him a total of 157 receiving yards, second only to the 194-yard game he had against Baltimore in 2021.

Higgins made a remarkable touchdown catch from quarterback Joe Burrow late in the second quarter of the team's Week 3 loss to Pittsburgh at Acrisure Stadium. It was among the most impressive NFL catches by Higgins.

In March 2025, Higgins agreed to a four-year contract extension with the team. Higgins, Cincinnati's second-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft, is entering his seventh NFL season.
