While the Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a 131-125 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night, the Raptors erased a 15-point lead on the route to scoring 43 points in the fourth quarter, the highest mark of the game for either team. With 43.7 seconds left, the Raptors cut the deficit to five, forcing Redick to bring his starters back in to secure the win.
In post-game comments, Redick was not pleased that the team almost gave up a commanding fourth-quarter lead with the bench unit.
“Yeah, it started with the group that was on there, and then those other guys got put in a spot. Again, it’s like, there’s no “we’re going to go run offense,” right? When you play against these teams, it’s literally grab and hold, foul, trap, foul, and we just didn’t do a good job of taking care of the ball in that situation. I won’t make that mistake again. I’ll leave the guys in. You got to play to the final buzzer, and if guys are not ready to play, then I just won’t put them in.”

Outside of the nearly blown lead, Redick also took issue with the officiating. Outside of the nearly blown lead, Redick also took issue with the officiating.
“We scored 131 with 24 turnovers. You guys can see it. Some of those turnovers are because we’re legitimately getting fouled. It’s not like, ‘Was that a foul? Was that not a foul?’ You can’t.”
Redick added, “I told one of the referees this, because all these guys do, all the defenders now, is they pick you up, then they grab the arm you’re not dribbling with, and then they try to steal the ball from you. We saw it. Famously, Cason Wallace did it with TJ McConnell, and that’s just the NBA right now.”
