The Toronto Blue Jays have plenty of decisions to make this offseason, along with several positional gaps to address as they prepare for a turnaround in 2027. The Blue Jays were a disappointing team in 2026, and they don't want a repeat of that performance next season.

One of their biggest priorities will be putting together a new-look outfield. They are also going to need to find a player who can provide the kind of production George Springer once did.
“It's been a long time since the Blue Jays developed an All-Star-caliber outfielder. You're stuck reaching for Kevin Pillar's peak seasons, then even further for Vernon Wells, who last played for the Blue Jays in 2010. Essentially, the Blue Jays need to find their next George Springer," MLB.com's Keegan Matheson wrote.
Toronto already seems to have a player in mind whom it could target. Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki is expected to draw interest from the organization when he reaches free agency.
“The Blue Jays didn't make the playoffs this year, so they are already in offseason mode. Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports that the Jays are expected to pursue outfielder Seiya Suzuki when he hits free agency about a month from now," MLB Trade Rumors' Darragh McDonald wrote.
McDonald believes the Blue Jays could ultimately sign Suzuki this offseason following a career-best year.
“Teams are reluctant to go long at this stage of a player’s career, particularly for players who reject a qualifying offer, which should be a lock for Suzuki. Be that as it may, the slugger’s track record is so steady and so productive, we’re betting that he’ll add his name to that list of rare four-year deals for 32-year-olds — and a five-year contract doesn’t seem entirely out of reach,” Darragh wrote.
Suzuki was a Gold Glove finalist this season, showcasing how much he has developed throughout his career. While his arm was once considered his biggest strength, the right fielder has become capable of making all kinds of plays in the outfield.
Suzuki was previously on an $85 million contract with Chicago. It remains unclear what his next deal will look like, but the Blue Jays shouldn't be afraid to spend money to address a major need. Suzuki would be an ideal fit for Toronto, especially considering his offensive production and history as a Silver Slugger finalist.
