Top Longhorns to pick up in college fantasy football this season
· Yahoo Sports
Exciting news came out of Yahoo Sports today, with them introducing College Football Fantasy. It’s been a staple for NFL fans for decades and now it has made its way into the college ranks. Texas, as you can imagine, has many players that will be highly coveted in fantasy drafts to come.
Considering that, I thought I’d give the top five Longhorns you should target in your drafts.

Texas Longhorns Team Offense
One of the unique aspects of college fantasy is you can draft an entire offense. You’ll still have your individual offensive players but will also bet on a full team to light it up. Texas will find itself at the top of many of the “team offense” boards. Arch Manning isn’t on this list but will be a top QB option, considering his dual threat ability. The RB and WR core figure to be among the best in the country and if the OL holds up their end of the bargain, this could be a special group.

Raleek Brown - RB
Brown and Hollywood Smothers are both going to go high on draft boards, but I would lean towards Brown if I’m forced to pick one. I tend to believe he’ll lead the way marginally and the pass catching ability is a major plus. That being said, I believe picking up both Brown and Smothers could be a fruitful path, considering both backs' big play ability. It’ll be a relatively even split but Brown is the one I’d bet on today.
Ryan Wingo - WR
When drafts come up, I’ll bet Cam Coleman will be one of the first names off the board. To me, Ryan Wingo could end up being that better choice for your fantasy team. The main reason is despite the major addition of Coleman, I still expect Wingo to get more plays designed for him. On top of that, those plays will be YAC opportunities. I expect Wingo to make the most of those changes and possibly even lead the Longhorns in receiving yards this season.
Cam Coleman - WR
It would be wrong to not include Coleman on this list. He’s a special player that has Biletnikoff upside. I fully expect Coleman to finish the season with the most receiving TDs on the team. He’s going to get chances on the goalline consistently throughout the season. On top of that, one of the major stories around Coleman this offseason has been his ability after the catch. He seems to be a truly complete WR that can finish with eye-popping numbers this season. You could come to the end of the season and Coleman ends as one of the top fantasy performers in the country.
Texas Defense
There are a number of other offensive weapons to pick from but it’s impossible to not include the Texas defense. It’s hard to make concrete promises about the defense, consider the multitude of changes. One thing I feel very confident about is they are going to create “havoc plays”. Colin Simmons and the defensive front will get their fair share of sacks. Rasheem Biles is a big-play waiting to happen at linebacker. The secondary will be predicated on playing football and getting interceptions. Overall, this defense might have some lapses but they’ll make plays that can change your fantasy matchup in a second.
