MONROE – Former St. Mary Catholic Central volleyball coach has been elected to join the Michigan High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

She will be inducted at the Comfort Inn & Suites Conference Center in Mount Pleasant on Sept. 27.
Tuller began coaching in 1976 and her career spanned 45 years.
She started coaching at St. Mary Academy from 1976-82.
She later coached at Monroe County Community College until athletics were discontinued there.
Tuller spent time at Airport and Ida before returning to St. Mary Catholic Central in 1999. She also coached at Erie Mason.
Over 16 seasons at SMCC, her teams compiled a racked up a 688-213-51 record, winning 14 Huron League titles, 14 District, crowns, and 12 Regional championships.
SMCC appeared in the state Final Four 10 times, was the state runner-up in 2011 and captured state titles in 2003, 2007, 2010, 2012 and 2014 under Tuller.
Tuller coached 24 All-Staters and helped 10 athletes move on to play at Division 1 colleges.
“Her greatest accomplishment was having former players love the game and want to teach it to others,” a former player wrote in a recommendation letter.
She was instrumental in developing the Monroe County Catholic Youth Organization volleyball program, which produced hundreds of players for SMCC.
“My path in volleyball began in her gym,” Bowling Green head coach Alex DelPiombo, who played for Tuller at SMCC, wrote in a recommendation letter. “She shaped not only the coach I have become, but the person I strive to be.”
Tuller served as Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association regional representative and the state ranking committee member.
She has been registered as an Michigan High School Athletic Association official for 30 years and was elected to the MIVCA Hall of Fame in 2014 and the SMCC Hall of Fame in 2023.

Nationals release Wiemer
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Nationals released Joey Wiemer on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
The Bedford graduate made the Major League team out of spring training and got off to a torrid start. He was 3-for-3 in each of his first two games and reached base in his first eight plate appearances.
He went 10-for-17 in his first five games, then hit just .189 over the next 27. The Nationals demoted him to Triple A Rochester on May 19.
He hit .189 in 42 games with a 30.7 strikeout rate.
The 27-year-old was drafted in 2020 by Milwaukee and made his Major League debut with the Brewers in 2023, He landed with Washington this season after brief stints with Cincinnati, Miami and San Francisco.
Fruit’s season ends
CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Dundee graduate Zach Fruit is likely to miss the rest of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery.
He had pitched in 12 games with 11 starts, compiling a 7.01 ERA for Double A Chesapeake in the Baltimore Orioles farm system.

Zimmerman aces Carrington
MONROE – Connor Zimmerman shot his first hole-in-one on Aug. 1, using a pitching wedge to ace the 151-yard No. 17 hole at Carrington Golf Club.
Lynn shoots hole-in-one
TEMPERNACE – Jamey Lynn shot a hole-in-one on the 149-yard No. 6 hole at Giant Oak Golf Course on July 19 with an 8-iron.
Deme Acres aced
PETERSBURG – Adam Bush of Ypsilanti recorded his first hole-in-one at Deme Acres Golf Course on July 12.
He used a 7 fairway wood from 170 yards.
ADULT SOCCER
Silva leads shorthanded squad
MONROE – Felipe Silva scored four goals to lead an undermanned Not Fast, Just Furious team to a 6-4 win over Atletico in the Monroe Adult Coed Indoor Soccer League at LevelUp Training Sunday.
Just Furious had only five players.
Stephanie Zecman and Alex Gawel had two goals each for Atletico.
