Rhyne Howard sets WNBA season record for 3-pointers, Angel Reese scores 30 with 10 rebounds as Dream win big over Sun

Rhyne Howard set a single-season record for most 3-pointers made, while Angel Reese scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Atlanta Dream's 103-59 win over the Connecticut Sun on Thursday.

Howard hit her 129th 3-pointer of the season with 6:45 remaining in the fourth quarter to break a tie with Sabrina Ionescu, who set the previous 3-point record during the 2023 campaign.

Meanwhile, Reese hit the 30-point mark for the second time this season. She appeared to be on her way to breaking her career high of 31 points, set nearly a month ago against the Phoenix Mercury. Reese had 19 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks at halftime.

Additionally, Reese recorded her 30th double-double of the season with Thursday's performance. She had already set the record for double-doubles in a single season when she got her 29th in an 89-81 win over the Minnesota Lynx on Aug. 30.

Reese also tallied a 30-point, 10-rebound game in the fewest minutes during a game in WNBA history, playing only 25.

In her third WNBA season, her first with Atlanta, Reese is averaging a career-best 16.5 points per game, in addition to 12.4 rebounds. And she's putting up those numbers for a championship contender. At 28-14, the Dream are tied for the No. 3 seed in the WNBA standings.

Howard came into Thursday's game tied with Ionescu, but missed her first eight shots from behind the arc before finally sinking a 3 for the record. She finished with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals.

For the season, Howard is shooting 36% (129-for-358) from long range, the best percentage of her career while also taking her highest volume of 3-point shots. The five-year veteran is the Dream's second-leading scorer this season behind Allisha Gray, averaging 18.1 points per game while shooting 41% from the floor, both career-best marks.

The Dream close out their home schedule by hosting the Chicago Sky (15-26). Atlanta then ends the regular season with two games at the New York Liberty (24-16).
