Everyone attending Wednesday's Greenwich-New Canaan girls swimming and diving showdown will be seeing red, lots of it.
The meet, which starts at 3:30 p.m. at the Greenwich High pool, will celebrate National Women's Health and Fitness Day with a special "Ladies in Red" theme, according to an email from Greenwich first-year coach Megan Kelly.

"Both teams proudly feature red as a team color and are led by female coaching staffs, making this a fun opportunity to celebrate the women and girls who participate in and support athletics," Kelly said in the email.
Kelly's staff includes first-year assistant coach Jennifer "JJ" Worden, while New Canaan is led by head coach Kat Munson and assistant Liz Blau.
Spectators are encouraged to wear red to celebrate women in sports and raise awareness of women's and girls' health, fitness and lifelong wellness.
Greenwich and New Canaan will hold their diving competition separately at 7 p.m. at the Greenwich YMCA. The Cardinals enter the meet 2-0, with victories over Westhill/Stamford (88-61) and Staples (106-72). The Rams are 1-1, with a win over Fairfield Ludlowe (98-80) and a loss to Ridgefield (98-83).
Greenwich returns many competitors from last year's team, which won the "Triple Crown" (FCIAC, Class LL and State Open). Senior captains are Ellison Charette, Julia Kozman, Kensie Worden and Izzie Nassa. Olivia DeVries and Sara Jee are strong juniors. Sophomore Alden Charette won the Class LL and State Open diving championships as a freshman, finishing ahead of New Canaan senior Emma Kelly at the Open. Kelly is now diving in Chapel Hill for the University of North Carolina.
New Canaan has strong seniors in Julie Frangione, Kaitlyn Knowles, Cora Huang and Emilia Bieliauskaite. Frangione, Knowles and Huang are captains. Junior Sydney Bonheur has stepped into a bigger role this season, and Kelly noted that the Rams have several talented freshmen.
